The most important thing for mankind in the world is definitely health. Nothing is possible if we are not healthy. Therefore, how can we preserve our health? According to doctors, there are many ways to prevent diseases and stay healthy. We will deal with only three main ways to improve our health.

First, we can improve our health by eating high quality food. In other words, we must eat food that our body needs to grow and function well. In fact, doctors say that fruits and vegetables contain a lot of essential nutrients that an organism needs. For example, apples are rich in antioxidants and other substances that may reduce the risk of developing many diseases including cancer, hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. Why not having an apple a day?
Also, drinking a lot of water every day is important for our well-being. Our body cells need water to function properly. Water also helps us eliminate our body waste in the form of sweat, urine, etc, and makes our skin look as youthful as possible. Then, it is good to drink water every day. Researches show that only 57 percent of Americans drink four cups of it or more per day and seven percent do not drink any water. Physicians suggest we drink daily at least height cups of water preferably in the morning.
Besides, there are also drinks like green tea that is known to be an anti-fat because it reduces the amount of fat in the body. That can prevent the high blood pressure and other health troubles. It may reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Green tea play an important role in the nervous system by stimulating the brain. From what has been said, we are convinced that eating healthy food can make us healthier.

Another way to prevent diseases is to avoid harmful foods that bring us health problems. One of these kinds of food is tobacco. Most people nowadays, especially young people, smoke cigarettes, chicha and other kinds of tobacco.
The problem is not only that they are throwing their money away, but also they are throwing their health away. Smoking causes countless diseases and most of the time these illnesses lead to death. Statistics show that about six million people die every year, so 11 people a minute. One reason tobacco is bad is that it contains more than 700 chemicals. For example, cigarette smoke contains oxides of nitrogen in relatively high levels. This gas is known to cause lung damage in experimental animals similar to that noted in smokers, and may be responsible for initiating lung damage leading to emphysema. Cigarette also contains nicotine that can negatively affect the heart, reproductive system and lungs.
Another harmful thing consumed by many people is alcohol. This drink is devastating to people all over the world. Alcohol affects nearly every organ in the body and can lead to mental illness. Short-term health effects from alcohol abuse can include sexual problems, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, periods of depression, and high blood pressure. It is proven that two hundred diseases are linked to alcohol and about three million people to die every year. According to the World Health Organization, 5.3 percent of the world’s mortality is due to alcohol. If nothing is done, 10 million people will be killed by both tobacco and alcohol a year.
Besides tobacco and alcohol, there are other food that are not originally harmful if they are eaten in moderation, but if they are consumed too much, they can cause severe health problems. For example, the excess consumption of sugar can provoke diabetes which is a terrible disease. Also, a lot of salt can cause high blood pressure or hypertension. Eating too much fat increases the cholesterol level in the blood and can cause heart disease. Actually, the excess of any food can lead to sickness. Personally, I think that it is important to control what we eat, drink or ingest.

Last, we can improve our health by participating in enough physical exercise. In this modern world where technology has overtaken man's work and made his transportation easier, people move their body less. That's why we have more heart and respiratory disease and hypertension today. Therefore, regular exercise is important for healthiness. Exercise is so important that the World Health Organization has developed some worldwide recommendations in terms of health. For example, children from 5 to 17 years old have to do a physical activity 60 minutes a day. This exercise includes games, daily movements, house work and so on. For adults, WHO recommends 75 minutes of intense exercise or 150 minutes of moderate physical activity a week.
No one can deny that physical activity has a lot of benefits for human well-being. One of its advantages is that it prevents us from respiratory diseases and reduces the risk of chronic disease. It also improves the quality of our sleep and helps children and young adults grow quickly and normally. The most important of its benefits for students especially, is that it can improve brain function and protect memory and thinking skills. For these reasons above, some people believe that we need a daily exercise like we need food and water.

As can be seen, there are many ways to improve health. We have to eat healthy food and moderate consumption of certain things. It is also imperative to quit or moderate bad habits such as smoking and drinking too much. The more we control what we put in our mouth and participate exercise, the healthier we are. Even though modern medicine is improved today, overall health will not be improved if we do not adopt good habits.
