Constructions des ferro tanks a Kibumba -Buhumba.
Concept Note for Water Project in Kibumba and Buhumba.
I. Building of 475 Ferro Tanks for gathering water from roofs in Kibumba and Buhumba, Nyiragongo territory, DR Congo. 1.Contextual introduction Nyiragongo territory in general; Kibumba and Buhumba localities in particular; the access of potable water remains a problem and it constitute a priority need for the community because from long time ago, there is no river, no well and there are no pipes to bring water within. For getting water, people have to crossing the border to Rwanda for about 6 hours of walking around 6 km, to realize 12kms for 2 ways(go and back). As for many times, there no good relationship between Rwanda and DR Congo; during many times the borders are closed and people are obliged to go to Goma, at 30km from Kibumba. The 2 easy ways of getting water are: catching water from houses’ roofs and going into Virunga National Park to getting stagnated water. For now the second way is avoided for protecting this World Heritage. As consequences: - One jerican (20 l) of water cost between 500-1000 Congolese Francs about USD 0.32-0.64. - Women spend more time in travelling much for getting water -Many children don’t go to school because they have to assisting their parents for getting water -Many diseases due to lack of potable water. -Poverty in the area 2.Rational of the project and target beneficiaries By building Ferro tanks for gathering water from roofs in Kibumba and Buhumba, Nyiragongo territory, the project will solve at 60% the consequences enumerated above. In fact, bringing water by pipes from the Lake Kivu or from Rutshuru is costly. It belongs to the DR Congo government to engage effort to save his people. The urgent solution is constructing Ferro tanks to collecting water from roofs as the only way of getting water for now. ALARM Congo in partnership with Water is Basic, BentTree Bible Fellowship Chuch have already started by distributing 5000 filters to 5000 households; by constructing 25 Ferro Tanks. According the plan, and in order to satisfying at minimum, it would be better to building 500 Ferro Tanks. Due to the funding, we stopped at 25 Ferro Tanks that are like a drop of water in Ocean. Apart from the distribution of filters and building 25 Ferro Thanks, ALARM has already trained local people that assist the project manager in building. It means that the human resources are already existed. 3.Budget With the experience on the ground from January 2017, to building one Ferro Tank of 10m3 cost $ 1,865.6. The total cost for the remain 475 Ferro Tanks is 886,160.00. Note: Our preoccupation is the budget for one Ferro Tank’s cost. So whoever can contribute is well come for whatever contribution he can give for building even one Ferro Tank and progressively with contribution of philanthropic people, the project will fulfilled. By funding this project, the donor will have contributed in reducing: -Women spend more time in travelling much for getting water -Many children don’t go to school because they have to assisting their parents for getting water -Many diseases due to lack of potable water. -Poverty in the area On behalf of ALARM Congo _________________________________ *Marie Jeanne Munanga Hamuli* Country Director & Transforming Communities Coordinator ALARM-Congo, Goma, DRC Cellphones: +243997728753 +243853114214 Email:marie-jeanne@alarm-congo.org jmunanga2002@yahoo.fr Website: www.alarm-inc.org "Empowering African Leaders, Reconciling African Communities" Vous aimez cette page ?
